The Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, has given notice of the publication of the draft Framework for the Republic of South Africa (draft Framework) in terms of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement for public comments.
South Africa, as a Party to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and its Paris Agreement, has an option to make use of article 6 of the Paris Agreement in the implementation of its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). The scope of article 6 is about international cooperation between parties to the Paris Agreement to voluntarily use carbon markets as well as non-market approaches in the implementation of the NDCs.
Members of the public are invited to submit written comments to the draft Framework, within 30 days from the date of publication of this notice in the Government Gazette.
