The Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, in terms of sections 18(1), 18(3) and 69(1)(b), (g), (i), (I), (o), (dd) and (ee) of the National Environmental Management: Waste Act, 2008 (Act No. 59 of 2008), has amended the Regulations regarding extended producer responsibility published under Government Notice R.1184 of Government Gazette 43879 on 5 November 2020, as set out in the Schedule.
The purpose of the amendments is to remove the 60 day timeframe to obtain concurrence from the Minister responsible for Finance contained in regulations 7(2) and 7A(2).
